Transforming evaluation by global institutions to achieve the SDGs in health

Panel Discussion | Online

About the Event

An urgent discussion is needed within the health systems field on how evaluation can better support the SDG agenda for health, particularly amongst the global health institutions. The evaluation ecosystem comprises a wide range of stakeholders and practices, that interdigitate with activities including monitoring, evaluative research, organisational learning and evidence synthesis. Evaluation involves systematically collecting, analyzing and interpreting data, to understand whether and how (often large, complex) global health programs, delivered in real-life rather than research settings, are effective in achieving their aims, and how they can be improved. But only transformative, so-called "triple loop" learning can achieve these goals - and a revolution in evaluation is needed urgently to realise its potential. How do we start? Who needs to do what?
