Adapting M&E to Indigenous Contexts in Canada

About the Event

Presenters will share their experience with the M&E aspect of the PLAY program, which is focused on developing M&E processes that align and collaborate with partnered Indigenous communities. Presenters will also share experiences on how the OCAP principles inform M&E processes. During the session, presenters will discuss the challenges of adapting to the various contexts across Canada, lessons learned from community engagements, and future approaches to incorporating community context into M&E systems.

Laura Thomas Senior Manager - Partnerships and Development With a background in community development, community-based programming, adult learning and development facilitation and training, Laura has been with the Indigenous Programs team since 2013, as both a Program Officer directly supporting community partnerships, and as a Program Manager in providing support to Program Officers and RTP organizational partnerships. With an amazing team, she is currently responsible for overseeing the execution of the Indigenous Programs' 2021-2025 strategic plan. Laura is passionate about amplifying opportunities to connect people & ideas. She also loves to dance, bike, play, and watch really cool movies.
Kieran Lucas MEL Research Officer - Right To Play Kieran (he/him) is the MEL Research Officer for Indigenous Programs. Kieran has served as the MEL Research Officer with Right To Play since November 2022. Kieran is a community researcher and advocate conducting research within communities across Southern Ontario. Kieran received his Master of Media Studies in which he focused on community-centred, anti-oppressive research methods, as well as Indigenous Methodologies. Kieran has served as a research assistant to various Indigenous researchers, focusing on trauma-informed research methods.
Sebastian Sadauskas Community Mentor Sebastian is a Community Mentor with Right To Play, supporting programming for children and youth in at the Hamilton Regional Indian Center (HRIC), Hamilton, Ontario. Sebastian is passionate about traditional Indigenous ecological knowledge and creating community connections.

Dele Aderibigbe MEL Manager - Right To Play Dele (he/him) joined Right To Play as the MEL Manager in September 2021. He works to support the organizations Indigenous Programs which aims at improving health and psychosocial wellbeing of Indigenous children and youth across Canada. Prior to joining RTP. He worked for several development organizations and projects in Africa and Europe and the Middle East. He has over 10 years of experience designing MEL systems and has a master’s degree in development studies.
