Institutional capacity strengthening for key civil servants in Kano and Jigawa State of Nigeria
Workshop
About the Event
We plan to convene a sensitization and capacity building workshop for 30 senior level monitoring and evaluation functionaries from key Ministries and Boards on effective implementation of monitoring and evaluation functions. This workshop will take place over 3 days and will target 30 key functionaries with responsibility for implementing monitoring and evaluation functions in Kano and Jigawa States.
For the first time, monitoring and evaluation cadre has been officially introduced at the two states which address key problems of relevance, utility and gender responsiveness, all factors underpinning the failure of monitoring and evaluation systems in the North of Nigeria. This project is the first of its kind in Kano and Jigawa state. It will support the two state government to change their current incremental and piece-meal approach to implementing monitoring and evaluation functions for greater accountability. The project will create an opportunity for the state governments to learn from the project achievements and build confidence to catalyze the process to scale up and expand monitoring and evaluation reform. The project will build the confidence and capacity of 30 civil servants in selected ministries, department and agencies. This is a factor which is often overlooked in monitoring and evaluation reform. The efforts of the participants in this project will constitute the basis upon which the project achievement will be sustained. The project will ultimately lead to improve improve accountability and transparency in the states.
