À propos de l'événement

To combat today’s hunger challenges and reach Sustainable Development Goal-2 (SDG-2) on Zero Hunger, it is vital to provide decision-makers with the most accurate and up-to-date information on food security and nutrition during normal times as well as crises situations. Countries across the globe are working to leverage data and technology which enables evidence informed, timely, and prudent decision-making. Two noteworthy examples of mega-scale data-informed programmes emerge from India which operates the largest food safety net globally, and World Food Programme (WFP) which is the largest humanitarian and food safety and distribution network.

With this backdrop, the WFP and the Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO), NITI Aayog, Government of India, brings together a panel of international experts and government partners to discuss the innovations and newer approaches for tracking food security and nutrition, both during normal times and crises situations.

The panel will also discuss the potential of emerging data technology and systems in bringing together various aspects of the food supply chain – from production, processing, and distribution to consumer markets – and help anticipate challenges and inform solutions in a post-COVID era. Using case studies, the panel will also explore the question of “what it takes” to introduce and sustain such innovations within governments and non-government organizations, especially in low and middle-income economies.

At the end of the discussion, the participants will:
• Gain a better understanding and awareness of new and emerging data technologies and solutions for monitoring food security and nutrition.
• Gain a better understanding on the steps for implementing such solutions in their settings.
