[Em português abaixo] Despite significant progress in the use of evidence in the evaluation field, there remains the challenge of integrating empirical evidence with allocative priority decisions when assembling government budgets. The Spending Review process has been a tool used by experts to bridge the evaluation field with fiscal policy, based on Value for Money and Performance Based Budgeting criteria. The roundtable aims to provide an overview of the evolution of these initiatives globally and in Brazil.

Apesar de grande avanço no uso de evidências no campo de avaliação de políticas públicas, ainda se tem o desafio de juntar as evidências empíricas com decisões de prioridades alocativas na hora de se montar o orçamento dos governos. O processo de Spending Review tem sido uma ferramenta usada por especialistas como forma de juntar a área de avaliação com a política fiscal, com base em critérios Value for Money e Performance Based Budgeting. A mesa redonda tem o objetivo de dar um panorama sobre a evolução dessas iniciativas no mundo e no Brasil. O evento será em inglês com tradução simultânea para o português.

Andre Martinez Fritscher Fiscal Specialist at IDB
Wesley Matheus de Oliveira Chief of Staff at the National Secretariat for the Evaluation of Public Policies and Economic Affairs (SMA/MPO). PhD in Political Science and specialist in Data Science. President of the Brazilian Monitoring and Evaluation Network (RBMA). He has led teams in Latin America and Africa to create solutions and monitor/evaluate impact in the areas of poverty alleviation, economic development, and fiscal security.

André Portela Director of CLEAR LAB Graduated in Economics from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), Master's in Economics from the University of São Paulo (USP), and Ph.D. in Economics from Cornell University. He was a professor at the University of São Paulo, an adjunct associate professor at Vanderbilt University, and a visiting professor at Cornell University. Currently, he is professor of public policy at the School of Economics of São Paulo at the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV EESP), coordinator of the Center for Applied Microeconomics (C-Micro/FGV EESP), and director of FGV EESP CLEAR. Additionally, he is a researcher at CNPq, working in the areas of public policy evaluation, labor market, education, and social programs.
