Empowering digital real-time data collection with simple tools and local skills: The GEMS and RASME initiative

The World Bank's GEMS initiative has supported over 800 projects in 90+ countries to leverage innovative, field-appropriate technology for digital data collection and analysis, tailored to specific M&E needs. Building upon this success, the AfDB has partnered with the GEMS team and launched an adaptation of GEMS, named RASME that is jointly rolled out with development actors across Africa. This session will provide participants with an interactive introduction of GEMS and RASME and its use for data driven development decisions. It will include presentations from the GEMS and RASME teams on how to tackle data collection and project monitoring challenges through the application innovative tools and local capacity-building. The session will also present use cases of the system from around the world.

Lhoucine El Khili Acting Manager, Data Center & System Management Services Division Lhoucine El Khili is the Acting Manager, Data Center & System Management Services Division for the African Development Bank. He provides leadership, supervision and management for the acquisition, deployment, operations and support of the AfDB's IT infrastructure.
Elma Zahir Consultant Elma Zahir brings with her more than 12 years of extensive background in managing high-impact operational initiatives. She leads the Geo-Enabling initiative for Monitoring and Supervision (GEMS) engagement in South Asia as well as its Communications and Knowledge Management agenda.
