Informing Change recently partnered with the David and Lucile Packard Foundation on a Data Ethics Guidebook and Toolkit, offering guidance and tools to evaluation staff and practitioners for tackling issues from design to use and distribution, and stories from the field illustrating real-world dilemmas. This online workshop will introduce attendees to the tools (including alternatives to Institutional Review Boards, guidelines for ethical collection of demographic data, and an ethical thinking framework) and invite them to discuss issues that often arise in evaluation and research.

| Caitlin Stanton (she/her) | Senior Associate, Informing Change | Caitlin is a co-author of the Guidebook and Toolkit. She joined Informing Change after having previously served as the Director of Partnerships for the Urgent Action Fund and as the Senior Program Officer for Learning, Monitoring, and Evaluation at the Global Fund for Women. She brings a decade of experience leading learning, monitoring, and evaluation work within public foundations and global networks focused on gender justice and on advancing diversity and inclusion within women’s rights initiatives. Caitlin holds a Master of Public Administration from San Francisco State University. |
| Inti Chomsky (he/him) | Associate, Informing Change | Inti is a co-author of the Guidebook and Toolkit, and specializes in quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, data visualization, and reporting. Inti joined the Informing Change team after previous stops working at KIPP Bay Area and City Year (Philadelphia). He double majored in Mathematics & Studio Art, receiving his BA from Macalester College. |
| Candice Morkel, PhD (she/her) | Director, CLEAR Anglophone Africa (CLEAR-AA) | Dr. Morkel was interviewed during the Guidebook and Toolkit’s creation. She is the Director of CLEAR Anglophone Africa and senior lecturer in Monitoring and Evaluation at Wits University in South Africa. She has 25 years’ experience in government, academia and the non-profit sector, specialising in M&E and public policy. Her work focuses on supporting governments and development partners to build better systems of evidence production and use. She has published peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and edited books on M&E, and supervises local and international Masters and PhD students in evaluation. She is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the International Evaluation Academy. |

| AnnJanette Rosga (she/they), PhD | Director, Informing Change | Anjie is the lead author and project director for the Data Ethics Guidebook and Toolkit, which serves as the foundation of our workshop proposal. She is a researcher, educator, and facilitator with over 25 years of experience working with organizations devoted to progressive, systems-level social change. At Informing Change, Anjie directs projects involving policy advocacy and large-scale, complex-systems change strategy and evaluation. She also holds deep expertise in participatory research and the facilitation of consensus-building, strategic planning, theories of change, and collective meaning-making processes with communities. Anjie also served as a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion “brain-trust” for the national Evaluation Roundtable, a network of foundation staff who conduct and commission social sector research projects. Anjie holds a PhD in History of Consciousness (an interdisciplinary program combining humanities and social sciences) from the University of California, Santa Cruz. |
