Lessons from Impact Evaluations of Climate Change Interventions

This hybrid webinar will introduce audience members to the Learning-Oriented Real-Time Impact Assessment (LORTA) program of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and share findings from our engagement to conduct impact assessments with local and international partners. Participants will walk away with a number of learnings on the impact of GCF projects and how this is achieved through effective collaborative arrangements, most notably how the LORTA program increases the capacity of accredited entities to conduct impact assessments. The presentation will feature speakers from the LORTA program as well as the World Food Program (WFP) and KDI School of Public Policy and Management. The webinar will close with an interactive Q&A where online participants will be able to participate.

Susumu Yoshida | Evaluation Specialist - Implementation Science | Susumu is an Evaluation Specialist at the IEU. He manages and implements the IEU's Learning-Oriented Real-Time Impact Assessment (LORTA) program. He has more than 15 years of international experience in development research and operations. Prior to the IEU, he worked at the World Bank’s Development Impact Evaluation (DIME) as an Operations Officer. He holds a Master in Business Administration and Diploma de Estudios Avanzados in Economics from Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. |
Nidhila Adusumalli | Impact Evaluation Analyst | Nidhila is an Evaluation Analyst with the Impact Evaluation Unit at WFP’s Office of Evaluation (OEV). At WFP, she has been working on impact evaluations related to Anticipatory Action and Cash Transfers in humanitarian settings. She holds a master's in economics from Vanderbilt University and a master's in applied economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), India. Prior to joining WFP in 2021, Nidhila worked with J-PAL South Asia and Evidence Action, Kenya. |
Joshua Merfeld | Assistant Professor at the KDI School of Public Policy and Management | Joshua is an Assistant Professor at the KDI School of Public Policy and Management in Sejong City, South Korea. He is also a Research Affiliate at IZA (Institute of Labor Economics) in Bonn, Germany, and an Invited Researcher with the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL). His research and teaching interests include the microeconomics of development, applied microeconometrics, labor markets in developing countries, and poverty. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Washington. |

Before joining the IEU, she worked in the field of impact evaluations of development, humanitarian, and peacebuilding programmes for over 10 years. She worked at the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, and the World Bank. Anastasia holds a PhD in Development Economics from the Graduate Institute in Geneva. |
